I think it is so therapeutic to play in an art journal. You can start with one thought or idea and as you play, the page evolves. For this spread I thought I was going to simply use patterned paper in squares and concentrate on an abstract look. But it quickly transformed into basic shapes for houses. Today's pages are for The Pink Camera. I am playing in my Dylusions Art Journal from Ranger. I first covered the pages with Tim Holtz tissue paper in Melange and covered it with Dylusion Paints in Bubblegum Pink. The heart patterned stencil is from Heidi Swapp and I used Squeezed Orange Dylusion paint through it. Another layer from stencils was achieved with Cabbage Roses from the Crafters Workshop and Dylusion paint in Cherry Pie. I painted the ground with Midnight Blue and added a few bushes around the houses.
On my previous layout for The Pink Camera I used the Minnie and June collection from Fancy Pants and I wanted to use it again. I cut basic shapes out of the scraps of patterned papers and made three little houses for the layout. I made sure to use different papers for the roofs and adhered them to the layout with Collage Pauge (instant decoupage). I then stamped with black archival ink to have the house appear to be apart of the colorful background.
To finish the layout I do add more collage elements using the patterned papers from the collection and I even had the poodle puffy sticker from the collection for added interest. A few gold and white splatters always are a must for my work and did some journaling with a white pen. Thank you for joining me and I have linked my process video down below.
